Course Requirements

We conduct interdisciplinary and boundary programs in the following three-step manner:
The PhD degree is awarded upon satisfactory completion of a minimum of 30 credit units.

A. Designated Subjects (4 credits: 2 classes and 2 seminars)
Students are to pursue an active research thesis and technique. Students are to take designated subjects in each course early in their studies. Certain subjects in unrelated courses are also allowed.
B. Elective Subjects in a Related Discipline (a minimum of 20 credit units: 5 classes)
With the cooperation of each course, the graduate school provides a variety of subjects not only in their specialized field but also within the course. Students are able to enjoy lectures according to their interests. Students are to participate in classes, seminars, and exercises.
C. Subjects in Unrelated Disciplines (a minimum of 4 credit units: 1 class)
Students are welcome to participate in subjects in unrelated courses. New subjects such as Welfare, Caring, Life Morals, and Activism are offered.
Research under Professorial Tutelage
Students pursue a program of study planned in consultation with an academic advisor. Students conduct an interdisciplinary project under guidance of multiple supervisors.

Thesis and Evaluation
Multiple advisors are to examine the thesis in order to maintain a high level of quality for the graduate school.
Requirements for the PhD Degree
We can offer the doctoral degree medicine, dentistry, and academics. The PhD degree must be completed within a minimum of four years and following the completion of 30 graduate credit units in the program. Students must complete their doctoral dissertation and pass the final examination. Only students with a successful record of research will be able to complete their degrees within three years.
